HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN IBU BEKERJA TENTANG ASI PERAH TERHADAP PEMBERIAN ASI DI PUSKESMAS SIMPANG BARU

Exclusive breastfeeding is the best unmatched food. According to the records of the Lactation Center of Indonesia, only 15% of mothers give exclusive breastfeeding to their babies, with most reasons are of employment (65, 4%). The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between employed mothers’knowledge of squeezed breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding in Community Health Center of Simpang Baru, Pekanbaru. This research used acorrelation analytic qualitative research. The population of this research were all employed mothers whose infants aged 6–12months (75 people). The sample of this research were taken by using simple random sampling technique (63 people). This research was conducted in Community Health Center of Simpang Baru, Pekanbaru. The instrument used was questionnaire with univariate and bivariate data analysis. The results showed that most of respondents’ knowledge about squeezed breastfeeding was at good category – 34 people (54%), most of respondents were exclusively breastfed their infants –34people (54%). It could be summarized that there was a relationship between employed mothers’ knowledge of squeezed breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding where p value is on (0.002) <α (0.05). The employed mothers whose infants aged 0–6 monthsshould keep squeezed breastfeeding their infants and keep the breast milk at home correctly so the infants get their breast milk while their mothers are not at home.
